The new kit from Scalescenes has dropped. It’s compact little kit with a few options. It’s primarily an electrical substation, but it offers its self up for many more incarnations. Like a workshop, a storage unit even a coffee shop. It’s a simple little build but has a couple of new techniques. I would say it’s a nice little kit for any one new to the Scalescenes kits. Here we go.
First of all print out the sheets you require, as there is an option for a graffiti clad rear wall, and fix the sheets to the relevant thickness of card stock.
Next cut out your window option. I’ve gone for the plain white overlay onto acetate. With the optional security grill printed onto OHP film, glued over the top
Cut out the Front Wall A base layer next. Run a brick coloured marker around the inside edge of the arch, then carefully glue its corresponding cover layer over the top. Then wrap and glue the window and door edges into place. Cut out and glue the corresponding window sill into place.
Next, cut out the Gable edge B and run your marker around the inside edge. Glue this Into place on the front wall. Repeat for Gable edge A.
Next, cut out the Front Wall B and glue your door option into place. If you’re doing the workshop or coffee shop options, you will need to cut out the opening first.
Next, cut out the Front Wall C and cut out and glue the Front Wall D sections into place. Then glue A/B sections on top of C/D sections. Apply weight, and set aside to dry.
Cut out the Rear Wall base and glue the cover layer into place. Wrap the door opening and vent flaps into place. Cut out and glue their corresponding sill into place. Don’t glue the wall edge flaps in place yet.
Next, cut out the Rear wall B and glue a door option into place. Cut out the Internal Rear Wall, and glue the A/B sections over the top. Wrap and glue the reaming flaps into place.
Next is the side walls. Cut out the Side Wall A right and left. Then cover the with their corresponding cover layers. Wrap and glue the window openings and the short side flaps. Do not glue the long flaps just yet.
Cut out the Side Wall window sills next and glue into place.
Next, cut out the two Side Wall B and with them print side up,glue Side Wall A over the top. Wrap and glue the remaining side flaps into place.
Cut out the Interior Side Walls next, then wrap and glue the Downpipe edges into place using the light blue guidelines.
Next, place the Interior Side walls print side down, then glue into place the corresponding Sidewall A/B over the top. There should be a slight overhang on the front. These are what form the downpipes.
Test fit and glue together, the two side walls to the side of the front wall next. Make sure at this stage that everything is square and plumb. The two downpipes should be slightly protruding. Repeat for the rear wall.
Next, cut Gantry A and B and glue back to back. Cut out and glue into two blocks of two the Gantry Supports. Insert the Gantry through the hole in the front wall, then glue the supports either side on the back.
Cut out the Gantry Edges next. Then glue to the top and bottom of the Gantry.
Next, cut out the Gutter cover layers and glue the to the Gutter base layers. Once the glue has dried, cut out the hatched area. Now test fit and glue into place these on top of the Side Walls. Make sure the small return is at the front.
Cut out Roof A next. Lightly score along the red line and introduce an angle. Test fit and glue this between the two gables.
Next, cut out the Roof Supports. Lightly score on the reverse and introduce a slight angle. Flip the structure over and glue the supports into place.
The roof is next. Cut out the Roof B base layers. Cut out the Roof tiles in their numbered strips. Starting at 1, glue the strips in place using the light blue lines as guides, finishing at 17. Trim the edges. Once complete, test fit and glue in place.
Next, cut out the Ridge Tiles and glue into place.
Cut out the left and right Plinths base layers next. The wrap and glue their corresponding cover layers in place. Do not glue the end flaps just yet.
Test fit and glue the completed plinths to the front wall. Wrap and glue the final flap.
Next, cut out the Junction boxes A and B. run a marker around the raw edges. Glue these into place.
The final step is to cut out the Leader Head base layer then wrap it tightly and glue the cover layer around the base. Cut two leader heads. Cut out the Leader Head tops and glue to the Leader Heads. Test fit and glue these to the top of Downpipes.
And that’s it. I like this latest addition to the Scalescenes range. Bring on the next one.
Until Next Time……………….
