T040b Lifeboat Station Pt4………..

Right, time for the next installment of the T040b Lifeboat Station from Scalescenes. In this post I’m going to cover everything that will complete the main building, the end walls construction, raising the walls, the removable roof and the front and rear doors. Leaving just the slipway to do for the last post of the year.

But first, there’s some small detail to add to the interior sidewalls. Cut out the Locker pieces A and B then glue together back to back. Once the glue had dried, wrap and glue the Locker sides into place. Cut out the two Fire Hoses and the Distribution Board/Trunking, and glue them into place.

Next, cut out the Rear Wall A and cut out the door and window openings. Cut out the corresponding Rear Wall cover layer and glue over the base layer. Glue the window flaps in place. Don’t glue the door flaps and side flaps in place just yet.

Cut out and glue the window sill in place next. At the same time cut out and glue the rear Window in place.

Next, cut out Rear Wall B and glue over the Rear Wall A. You need to glue the remaining flaps in place now.

Cut out the two Rear Wall gables next and glue the back to back. Once the glue has dried use the grey area on the rear wall as a guide and glue into place. Set aside under a weight to dry.

Next, repeat the previous step for the front wall. Again set aside to dry.

With the structure sitting on a level surface, test fit and glue the two side walls in place next. Apply some weight and set aside to dry.

Next, once the glue has dried on the sides, test fit and glue the front and rear walls in place. Set aside to dry. I have to apologize at this point as I’ve managed to lose the photos of this step.

While the Front and Back are drying, cut out and glue the Gutter cover layers over the Gutter base layers. Then test fit and glue into place.

Next, it’s time to start on the removable roof. First is another fiddly part. Cut out all of the elements for the Trusses, and using the diagram in the instructions, glue together.

Cut out the Roof next and lightly score along the red line. Next, carefully cut out the Roof Tile strips and keep them in numerical order. Starting at the bottom and working to the top, glue the strips in place. Repeat on the other side. Trim off all of the edges.

Next, cut out the Roof Undersides and glue to the back of the roof.

Time to attach the trusses to the roof next. Glue one side first and let the glue dry. Once dry, glue other side and set aside to dry.

Next cut out the Ridge Capping strip and glue into place. Then test fit and trim if necessary the completed roof into place.

A little bit of fine detail next. Cut out and run a marker pen along the edges of the Front and Rear Drainpipes. Make sure that the rusty end is at the top. Glue into place.

Next, cut out both the Coping base layers and cover layers. Lightly score the red dotted line on the base layers and introduce a slight angle. Wrap the cover layer around the base and glue the flaps in place. Once wrapped, lightly score the red dotted line and introduce a slight angle. The glue into place on the gables. Cut out and glue into place the Coping Ridges over the top.

Cut out both the Rear Door Sill and the Rear Door Rail A, and glue into place.

Next, it’s time for some doors. Cut out the Rear fronts and backs, then glue together. Glue the doors into place and the cut out and glue the Rear Rail B into place.

Moving onto the front doors next. Firstly, cut out and glue into place the Front Door Rail C into place above the front doors.

Next, cut out both the Front Door A and B the glue them into place. Then cut out and glue the Front Door Rail Top into place.

Time to fashion the Front Doors next. Carefully cut out all 3 elements of the Front Doors X 2. Noting the tops, glue the front and backs together. Once dried, carefully glue the Front Door Battens into place. Decide which configuration your doors are to be, the glue into place.

Next, cut out and glue into place the Steps Side Wall Capping into place.

The final part of this post is to cut out and glue into place the Foundation E cover layer and glue into place.

That's it for now. Just the dreaded slipway next!! Hopefully I have it all written up before the New Year.

Until Next Time………
